Fluidity frozen or fragility flowing?

“Twilight was coming on as they rowed slowly up the windings of Glasswater Creek ... It was very quiet in here as the sound of the sea died away behind them; they could even hear the trickle of the little streams that poured down from the forest into Glasswater.”

Prince Caspian (C S Lewis)

I am a student of both nature & fantasy and use both to create my work in glass. I took the name Glasswater Creek from this passage, as it describes the type of place & time that inspires me to make my pieces.

I am drawn to the fluid motion of the water and the deepness of nature and frequently take photographs of these scenes and use them to translate nature’s many forms, colours & movements into glass.

I also add elements of ‘other worlds’ - those places that exist in the imagination. I want my pieces to appear differently to everyone who looks at them, depending on their own mind’s eye. I use a range of techniques including blown glass, fusing, slumping, stained glass and cold processing methods to provide these different aspects.
